How to Make Efficient Posts for your Blog

At the birth of blogging, it was just perceived as an online journal. Instead of just providing static information (and sometimes, not updated), bloggers have redefined how a website works. Now, a single entry in your online journal is called a post.

Before writing a post

  1. Think of any topic. To have enough sources of factual information, research.
  2. Think of your keyword. What is a keyword? Get a catchy and creative title that will encourage, persuade, and tempt your readers to read your post. Great titles may start with:
  • How to …
  • What is …
  • What if…
  • What to Do when…
  • My Top Seven bah-blah-blah…

During writing your post

Always start your post with an introduction. It may be a follow-up question to your title. Whatever. If you jump right straight to the meat of the topic, your readers misses the appetizer. Actually, this is really up to you. Be creative enough to make your readers read your post further.

Using Keywords

  • Use your keywords in post and page titles
  • Use your keywords in URL of page
  • Use your keywords in outbound links
  • Use your keywords in bold tags
  • Use your keywords in heading tags
  • Use your keywords in image alt tags
  • Use your keywords throughout your post
  • Use your keywords in meta tags

Make sure you mention your keywords to 5-15% in your whole article. If you exceed, search engines will see keyword-stuffing. Besides, who wants to read an article with words repeated again and again? Even a first-grader can notice that. You need not check on your keywords religiously while writing your post; just write with the keyword guiding you through.

Useful Questions to Ask Yourself when Writing a Post

  • What will people type into Google if they search the topic that I’m writing?
  • What are the results when I type these keywords into Google?
  • Will Google find my post relevant regarding my chosen keywords?

Using Numbers and Bullets

Highlight important points using numbers or bullets. This technique avoids your post being unfriendly to the eyes and confusing to your readers.

Using links

In every post, provide enough relevant links that direct readers to a source website (outcoming links), your other blogs (outcoming links but incoming link to your “other” blog), or your other posts (link within). These links may also direct your readers to your advertising network.

After Writing your Post

Now here comes SEO:

  1. Use Technorati Tags to make your post searchable in Technorati.
  2. Optimize your blog for search engines by using the All-in-one SEO pack if you are using Wordpress.
  3. Submit your post to Article Submission website(s) so your post can generate enough backlinks. Use Submitterbot.com for easier submission to 34 articles.  Take note though, your article is subject for approval. Subscribe to their newsletters so you can learn and be updated on their tips and tricks. Their helpful information can polish your English writing skills too.
  4. Ping the world. In this way, web directories know that your blog is updated.

Hello. This is kind of an “unconventional” question , but have other visitors asked you how get the menu bar to look like you’ve got it? I also have a blog and am really looking to alter around the theme, however am scared to death to mess with it for fear of the search engines punishing me. I am very new to all of this …so i am just not positive exactly how to try to to it all yet. I’ll just keep working on it one day at a time Thanks for any help you can offer here.Check out my website if you get a chance, just click on name. (I don’t want to leave a link, it looks too spammy)

I was scanning something else about this on another blog. Interesting. Your linear perspective on it is diametrically contradicted to what I read to begin with. I am still reflecting over the various points of view, but I’m tipped heavily toward yours. And no matter, that’s what is so good about modernized democracy and the marketplace of ideas on-line.

Hi everyone! So nice to be back. I apologize for the late responses but I’ll try to answer each of your inquiries.

    @Iceland is Bankrupt
It’s really not unconventional. As a matter of fact, when we started blogging, making menus (or pages) in Blogspot was difficult for us. We now realize it can’t be. You see, blogspot is pure blog. SO if you want to have About, Contact, and other menus in your blog, better yet, just use any of your old posts and use the link to that post to your Menu. But first, look for a theme that provides menus. When choosing themes, you can never upset search engines. Keep posted!

@AJ: hey there, i’d figure you’d visit here. Thanks and Welcome aboard!

@russ: for further help, just keep visiting this blog..there are so many posts (or topics) on queue that aren’t written and published yet. So hang on there!

@Forex Cash: nice to hear that..Thanks for the kind words..it encourages us to blog moooooooooore.

@Bert Hermanus: Thanks for your great perspective. I firmly believe that as there are many ways to kill a dog (but please don’t, i love dogs!), there are many ways to optimize your blog for search engines. And my steps here are just one of them. SEO is really tricky, changes from time to time, and their definite rules are unknown to everyone. The secret still lies onGoogle, Yahoo, and so forth. They keep their algorithms hidden and updated. Keep visiting!

The steps I posted here is a product of the data that i collected from various sources. And i united them in a single post. I must say it worked ’cause this post’s getting quite a number of comments considering we’re also newbies to SEO but oldies in blogging. And i must say, blogging with no SEO makes your blog somewhat a private blog. Is there such thing? LOL. Seriously. Keep visiting. And thanks to ALL of YOU :)
